samsung ctia tablet invite Samsung To Announce The Launch Of Galaxy Tab With 8.9 inch Display At CTIA 2011

One of the foremost consumer electronics companies, Samsung, it seems is now gearing up for the launch of an all new Samsung Galaxy Tab device with 8.9 inch display screen at the upcoming CITA 2011 trade show. Moving on from the original Samsung Galaxy Tab, that was introduced in the year 2010, as a competitor to Apple iPad, in a recent media invite sent out to all pre-registered CTIA media, Samsung has hinted on to the release of three new Galaxy tab models featuring 7 inch, 8.9 inch and 10 inch displays respectively. As per invite image, Samsung has showed a number sequence '78910', that is being widely interpreted as screen display dimensions for the new models.

Samsung's very first Galaxy Tab featured a 7 inch display, so there would be nothing new in that arena, while at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2011) in Barcelona, Spain, Samsung took the curtains off the all new Samsung 10.1 Galaxy Tab, featuring a 10.1 inch display. However, the invite does suggest introduction of an all new Galaxy Tab, featuring a 8.9 inch display and could just as easily be running the tablet specific Google Android 3.0 'Honeycomb' OS.  In today's tablet war, Samsung and LG Electronics are two of the most fierce rivals. Though Samsung has edge in the competition with the previous Samsung Galaxy Tab, yet with the all new LG Optimus Pad, the consumers would now have a varied choice and can just as easily find out who out of the two has gotten the tablet scene just right. Just the LG Optimus Pad, the highly expected Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 could be powered by Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor.

lenovo tobii prototype Introducing The World's First Eye Tracking Laptop From Tobii Technology

Very soon, our entire definition of laptops could be turned on its head and instead of using mouse and keyboards, we could just as well be navigating our laptops just with our eyes. At the CeBIT 2011 trade show in Hanover, Germany, one of the biggest and foremost names in eye tracking and eye control technology, Tobii Technology, has now unveiled the first eye tracking laptop, that in its initial phases is able to ascertain and carry out commands by just reading the eye movements of the users. This incredible new laptop has been designed and developed in collaboration with Lenovo, the world's fourth largest manufacturer of personal computers.

The all new eye tracking laptop has been integrated with Exposé, which is a user activated interface, that turns a conventional laptop into an eye-tracking marvel. At the demonstration of this incredible laptop, Tobii showcased, how the Exposé software was able to track the eye movements and run applications by staring at their icons. The applications of this marvelous technology seem to be endless, especially when it comes to gaming. Though there haven't been any efforts in this field, yet Tobii showed how a user could just as easily play a game like 'Asteroids' simply by looking at the screen. Tobii Technology also said that, the eye tracking technology could also be used mapping service, where in users can zoom in to a map by staring at it and zoom out by looking away from it.

As of now Tobii and Lenovo have developed only 20 units of this awesome laptop, for testing and demonstration purposes only and Tobii has stated that it will take about two full years for the technology to be commercially available for the users.

According to Henrik Eskilsson, (CEO, Tobii Technology),

"More than anything else, the Tobii laptop prototype is proof that our eye tracking technology is mature enough to be used in standard computer interfaces. To reach a state where the technology is part of the average computer, we need to make it smaller and cheaper. We believe that this can be realized in a couple of years by partnering with the right manufacturer."

Year 2012 Could Become The Year Of Personalized Advertising With ‘Gladvertising’

Gladverts Advertising Year 2012 Could Become The Year Of Personalized Advertising With 'Gladvertising'

Forget the advertisements featured in television and newspapers that designed for the masses and expand your imagination to world where you an advertisement banner will address you personally and will know what kind of a mood you are in, then suggest you a certain product or service. Sounds too far fetched? Not according to a recent study released by the Center For Future Studies, according to whom, the advertising revolution called 'Gladvert' could become a concrete reality as early as the year 2012. Gladvert is essentially the technology behind this unique personalized advertising platform, where in ad agencies and product companies will make the most out of emotion recognition software (ERS), that will enable them to suggest the best suited products to individual consumers, based on their mood.

Such a technology isn't that far along, as one of the foremost technology companies, NEC, has already designed and developed an advertising system in Japan, where in it can ascertain the gender and age of individual consumers and then serve them with advertisements as per those factors, thereby greatly personalizing the advertising approach. With incredible boom in social media and social networking, it's just a matter of time, when the advertisers will be able to present advertisements based on a person's age, sex and interests. With the possibility of the heavy involvement of social networking services in this emerging trend, the privacy activists are already raising questions marks on the legitimacy of the whole process and asking the pivotal of as to how much and what sort of personally identifiable information will be collected by the advertisers and marketers.

Speaking in regards to the privacy concerns that are currently being raised by Gladvertising, Alexander Hanff from Privacy International said,

“We feel that it is an industry that has so far gone unchallenged and because of this they are developing some scary stuff. We have a situation where the boundaries between our online and offline worlds become even more blurred and we currently have no regulatory or legislative regime in place to deal with these dangers.”
