Volkswagen, considered to be one of the most reputed auto manufacturers in the world has now finally showed its willingness to bring the past in to the modern, as the company at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show has planned to showcase its all new Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet. The somewhat iconic Cabriolet, has witnessed its own share of tweaks and revamps, and with the all new Golf Cabriolet, Volkswagen has given this historic automobile a new face, while preserving the legacy of the model. However, this resurrection of the Cabriolet is currently being aimed only at the European customer, while the U.S market is all set to receive the Volkswagen 2012 Eos and the new Beetle models.
The all new Golf Cabriolet will be featuring an electronic roof, that will take about 9.5 seconds to open and close, while the drivers can easily operate the roof at speeds of up to 18mph. When this gorgeous vehicle will be made available for global sales, Volkswagen is planning to offer its worldwide customers with up to six turbocharged, direct-injection gasoline engines and diesel engines, along with dual-clutch transmissions as well as the option of a state of the art BlueMotion technology. Samsung Electronics today launched an ultrathin notebook in an attempt to expand its presence in the more sophisticated mobile personal computing market dominated by Apple. Samsung, which has emerged as one of the strongest rivals to challenge Apple in the markets for smartphones and tablet PCs, also attacks the notebook sector, where Apple is trying to replicate the success he had with the iPhone and iPad with the MacBook line. Samsung launched the 9 Series model to compete with the ultra-thin MacBook Air, released in October. The South Korean company said the new notebook will cost 2.5 million won ($ 2,218) in Korea and will be released starting next month in the Americas and Europe. Apple overtook Hewlett-Packard last quarter as the largest manufacturer of mobile computers in the world, driven by strong sales of the iPad, according to market research firm DisplaySearch. The company sold more than 10 million tablets and notebooks last quarter, gaining a market share of 17 percent, almost one million more than the HP, which holds 15.6 percent of the market. A couple of days ago, the invitations for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding ceremony at Westminster Abbey on 29 April made waves and garnered much media attention. Everyone was talking about the invitation card and there was plenty of speculation about who was on the guest list and who had been left out. In the days to come, there is sure to be much more news from the William and Kate front. For now, the latest is that the Hallmark Channel will be producing a royal romance biopic. The Hallmark Channel’s biopic is scheduled to premiere on 13 August this year. In this, it joins the Lifetime network which is also focussing on the upcoming royal wedding. Senior VP of Original Programming at Hallmark Channel, Barbara Fisher said that this biopic would not simply be a narrative of the couple’s eight-year-long romance. The film, which is tentatively being called “William & Kate: A Royal Love Story”, is a biographical film which will also explore the nuances of a monarchy in modern times. The final title of the film is yet to be finalised. The television film is being written and produced by Linda Allen. Allen had earlier produced the 1982 telefilm, “The Royal Romance of Charles and Diana”, a film where she explored the love story of Prince William’s parents. However, the August premiere of Hallmark’s take on the William and Kate romance seems quite a distance away. Lifetime is planning to premier its own TV movie based on the young couple’s romance in April this year – the same month as the royal wedding. Via: NY Daily News

WFP's school meals programme feeds around 22 million children in the developing world. Bunmi Olaye and Francis Udom are originally from Nigeria and they are joining the WFP in ensuring that no child goes to school hungry because Bunmi says it's a known fact that it is harder to concentrate and focus on an empty stomach. It is surprising to know that there are 66 million primary school children from the developing world who go to schools hungry and of that 23 million are from Africa.
The WFP Executive Director is delighted and is sure about this fact that when a high fashion flyer like Bunmi Koko pays attention to them then several other influential people will be forced to pay attention to them as well. Bunmi Koko has come up with the Bunmi Koko Red Cup Label scarf and macbook case that are great to be taken to work or school and gives its customers a feel good factor by supporting hungry children and being fashionable at the same time.
